Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational, 2019.  This was painted in Lahaina. I was set up in a park, and the sketch was going pretty well.  About an hour into it, the lawn sprinklers suddenly came on! I was standing about 3 feet from it so I got blasted from point blank range.

Soaked from head to toe, I had to scramble to move my easel out of the water's way. The painting and the easel and the rest of my gear got totally wet, too. I poured water off my palette, dabbed the droplets off my painting (luckily, I was using oils) and let air dry. The hot sun made a quick job of it, and I was able to resume in a few minutes.

Local surfers witnessing my ordeal had a good laugh, and lamented that he didn't have it recorded. I agreed.
