3 day plein air workshop in Winters, CA.

Come paint the town with me! We will be in Winters, Ca, a quaint little town that time forgot, and paint the old fashioned townscape. Workshop includes demos geared towards town motifs like storefronts, street scenes and pedestrians; individual instruction at the student’s easel, and of course, my 80 page full color text book, En Plein Air.

Painting en Plein Air
3 day workshop in Atlanta, GA
September 14 - 16, 2012
Tuition; $325
I will be teaching a three day workshop at the Art School in Sandy Springs, in Atlanta. This will be my first time teaching a workshop in the South, so I’m very excited. We’ll cover the process and techniques of painting en plein air, much of which apply to studio paintings as well. The workshop will include demos, individual instruction and my book, En Plein Air,

Weekly Figure Drawing Class
October - December, 2011
Wednesdays, 1 to 4pm
Tuition; $40 / session or $144 / 4 sessions
In this on-going class, we will be working primarily on short pose gesture drawings in the tradition of the Italian masters.
2 - 20 min. poses, using charcoal pencils, sanguine and white chalk.
You can jump in at any time! There is no sequential curriculum.
Each student gets individual instruction at his easel, and there will be demos during every class.

Weekly Figure Painting Class
January - March, 2012
Wednesdays, 1 to 4pm
Tuition; $40 / session or $144 / 4 sessions
In this on-going class, we will be painting the figure from life. Emphasis is on the alla prima approach rather than rendering the hell out of every eye-lash, so if you like noodling, this class is not for you. We’ll focus on depiction of solid masses by controlling values, understanding color, anatomy, and brushwork.
You can jump in at any time! There is no sequential curriculum, since everyone is painting at a different level and I don’t believe that one size fits all.
Each student gets individual instruction at his easel, and I’m happy to do demos when anyone needs one.

Weekly Landscape Painting (In-Studio)
Thursdays, 6:30 - 9 pm This Class is Full - Call the School to get on the waiting list!
Tuition; $180 / 6 Sessions
In this on-going in-studio class, students will work on their own landscape painting projects.
Along with demos on various aspects of painting the landscape, (design, drawing, color strategies, different light conditions, light and shadow depiction, edge work... you name it, we’ll tackle it!) students will receive personal instruction and insight on projects they come up with.
It’s like having your personal art coach to help you along every step of the way, from thumbnails to finishing touches!
Bring your own photos from which to work, or practice using provided photo references.
